Blog Traffic – Gotta get some
Man, it seems like Christmas was just a few weeks ago, Tempus Fugit(Time Flies)! We do a get together at my place on Christmas Eve, and today we head over to Mom’s for brunch, my brother Syl’s for dinner, and Boxing Day with my girl Kim’s family.
It’s nice to have my son Clayton home for a bit too. He’s doing his thing in Toronto now after Graduating from Humber College in the spring. Clay was approached by Toronto Dominion Corporate and is now in a position as Law Clerk. Proud daddy here!
Our homework from Module 4 of Alex Jeffreys Coaching is to ramp up efforts to establish our blog traffic. So far, I’ve been continuing to find fellow Students, comment on your Blogs, and then activate your Links on the Blogroll, and add you on my Student Page. I have a work sheet for doing this and can send it to you if you like, just ask. I have about 280 names so far and one trick I figured out was to scroll through the Webinar box showing who is listening in so I can at least get your name on my list.
I have also begun to set up some social media accounts around the Net and in our Student community. Accounts I Have so far are:
The Fortunate 500 is a Forum for fellow Alex Jeffreys Students to pop in and say Hi, ask for help, and help each other, because you can’t do this alone people. It is hosted by fellow Student Thomas Northrop so come on down and fave me there (Clayton Moore).
Twitter is pretty cool, you can follow me there as Clayton_Moore, and I will follow you. I plan to direct message fellow students with an invite to visit here, and vice versa.
My Facebook account (Clayton Moore) is active with my Profile setup and a few pics.
Technorati could give your blog a big boost in traffic from interested visitors, since they will have already seen what your blog is about while reading in Technorati. Go claim your Blog as I am doing right now by publishing the confirmation Code in this Post.
Gotta go back now to Complete the claim. FYI I tried claiming right when I signed up and it just kept crapping out so I waited a day or so and it’s all good now. Oh yeah, I pasted the code near the bottom of this post, and my posts are Threaded so it didn’t work because it didn’t show on the front page, so I pasted the code at the top and the Claim went through.
There’s a ton of stuff to do, but bit by bit we will all get there.
Cheers!

Wow you have gathered a list of over 250 of the students? That’s amazing. I would love to get my hands on that list to be sure I can make a proper student list for my page.
I see you have some problems with the Technorati code in the top of this blogpost. You need to be in HTML mode in your editor when adding that code to your site.
It’s one of hundreds of ways to get traffic. You just need to find the right way for you.

Hi Thomas
Thanks for stopping by, and for pointing the T-Code issue out, all fixed now.
I had it proper the 1st time near the bottom but it wasn’t showing on the front page so I moved it up top in Visual instead of HTML.
Hope you got the Student List worksheet I sent your way.
Looking forward to more Techie advice in the future as I am strong with PC’s, Auto Industry Programming, and Information Systems, but relatively New to Web Programming.
Thanks again, and Season’s Greetings

Hello Clayton
You mention time flies at the top of your blog, and ohh boy are you right, i have been working flat out to do all the things that keep popping up on my list to do !
I must apologise for not visiting you earlier after you kindly stopped by at http://AlanNeath.com and left your comments for me, so thanks for that and rest assured i have added you to my blog roll.
I think you have been covering all the right bases with your actions to find traffic, but keep plugging away and a little more time will see results come your way !
cheers

Thanks for that Alan, there are so many tasks on my list that my head is bursting!
I keep trying to get around to everyone, but it will take some time cuz I want to look around and read a bit at each blog, and keeping tabs on that has grown into quite the spreadsheet.
Well that’s it for now, I’m rewarding myself for keeping at it even during the busy Holidays by watching the biggest UFC fight night PPV of the year.
Nogueira – Mir, Evans – Griffin, Silva – Jackson oh Yeah!
Cheers!

Hi Clayton,
I’m unsure that Oil Rig hopping should be entirely restricted to student blogs. I’m going to search out some large rigs too this week

Hi Clayton,
I don’t think i’ve met you yet? I’m making the rounds now and that list of names would come in handy! If you could email it to me that would be great. I’ve just set up my technorati page and wondering what to do next with it, if you’ve got any ideas please let me know!!
Thanks,
Valerie

Hi Valerie!
And now we have met. I just signed recently on Technorati, claimed my Blog, and loaded a pic. Looks pretty cool, can find related blog that are ranked high and visit them for possible quality links, fave them, people looking for certain information can find us, etc.
By the way, you are my first Fave, that’s right I said it! I did that a little while ago and also Faved Eoin O’Leary since I read about it at his site.
I’ll send my worksheet over to you now, up to 260 names today. I’m using it to track names, the link is good, I visited, they visited, they’re on my Blogroll, Twitter, Fortunate 500, Technorati, etc.
Wow, I’ve been at it for hours today and haven’t added a new Post I’m thinking of! 1st on the list tomorrow.
Going to your place now and calling it a day.
Cheers!

Hi Clayton,
Me again: and a big thank you for the list as that is what I’m using to do my turbo hopping. It must have taken you ages to produce. Have you any mechanism for us to keep it up-to-date? I’m turbo hopping to give everybody the same message, which is as follows:
_____________________________________________________
It’s taking me for ever to get round everyone just to say hi, so I don’t want you to think I am being rude, but I’m turbo hopping to get round as many of the F500 that I can. If I wait for you to come to me, it might never happen. Thanks to all who have already visited Planet Valz.
This means I have a standard message for everyone, and I’m leaving it as a comment to the latest post. I hope this does not offend you as communication and generosity is what is driving this.
Firstly, my wishes to you for a Happy, Healthy and very Prosperous Year 2009.
Secondly, I want to give you a New Year present, but you need to go to http://daybydaymarketing.com/2008/12/choose-your-new-year-present/
I would appreciate being added to your blogroll if I am not already on it. I am happy to add you to mine when you come over. (Note: You’re on mine, Clayton.)
